The Cliff has recently aquired new owners who have re-established the atmosphere cultivated by the Calladines some years ago. They are friendly and welcoming, surprisingly, a rare quality now-a-days.
There is a good selection of well kept beers and home made food - the pizzas are highly recommended.
There are several different themes throughout the week, eg, a quiz night, raffle, horticultural group, cycling meet and folk evenings.
A truly local pub.
It's a bit of a mystery why some pubs whither away, while others seem to prosper even in hard times. The Cliff seems to be unstoppable, mainly because it has a hard core of support from quite a wide radius. It's not really in Crich, so gets customers from Whatstandwell and Holloway too, both of which are currently lacking their own pub.
ReplyDeleteNot new owners but new tenant. The owner owns The Boat, Cromford, The Horse and Jockey, Wessington and the three Horseshoes Wessington, possibly closing.
